Phoebus Optoelectronics LLC
Phoebus Optoelectronics LLC focuses on advanced electromagnetic and optical technology development and consulting. Phoebus performs custom design/simulations and advanced materials/device development in the technology fields of metamaterials, photonic crystals and plasmonic crystals. Our portfolio of R&D projects covers the spectral ranges of visible light, infrared, THz, and microwave radiation for applications in solar cells, infrared imaging, sensors and antennas. Phoebus also provides an advanced electromagnetic and optical design tool Optus EOMD, a fast and flexible tool for rapid design of photonic crystals and metamaterials.

Optus EOMD™
Optus EOMD is available at a reduced price of $3000 for a six month license. This reduced price is valid until November 1st, 2026.
Phoebus is releasing Generation 2 of its internally developed electromagnetic and optical modeling and design tool Optus EOMD. Optus EOMD is comprehensive electromagnetic modeling, design, and analysis tool for thin-film structures and structures with one-dimensional and two-dimensional periodicity. Optus EOMD is designed to be easy to use for both experienced and novice electromagnetic engineers and students. Optus EOMD provides step-by-step instructions on how to:
-
Construct complex optical structures
-
Perform a variety of scans
-
Construct color representation plots and time-animations of:
-
Electromagnetic field components
-
Energy density
-
Poynting vector profiles
-
Dispersion curves
-
Perform scans-of-scans (i.e., analyzing the optical properties of a structure as a chosen structural or material parameter is varied)
An extensive materials library is included that includes the optical data for materials commonly used in optical structures; the user also has the ability to import their own data. Optus EOMD uses a optimized and stabilized rigorous coupled wave algorithm (RCWA). Users can design any three dimensional structure, including thin film stacks, or any structure that has one or two-dimensional periodicity. Such structures include a wide variety of commonly used optical filters, Bragg stacks, anti-reflection coating, optical filters, photonic crystals, plasmonic crystals and metamaterials.
